Re-recording of Maté’Radio #2: “Observing the infinitely small to understand the infinitely large”, with Sylvain Laforet
For this re-recording of the 2nd Maté’Radio, on April 10 at 5.30pm on Radio Campus Lille, Sylvain Laforet, a 3rd year PhD student at the UMET, takes you on a journey through space and time. He has the privilege of working on precious asteroid samples brought back by the Japanese space mission Hayabusa2, studying them under an electron microscope. As these devices tend to damage the integrity of the samples observed, Sylvain is developing a new methodology to limit this damage. By analyzing the composition of asteroids, particularly in terms of water, it is possible to unveil the history of the Earth’s formation and how water may have been brought there, as these space bodies have evolved very little since the beginnings of the solar system.
With Maté’Radio, doctoral students from Institut Chevreul laboratories explains their research work and talks about their career and daily life. Airing monthly on Radio Campus Lille every last Wednesday evening, during the Quoi de neuf? show. Find all the replays on the dedicated page.
