Plastic: Pollution or Solution?

On November 25, Lilliad welcomed a large audience for an evening of discussion dedicated to a topic that affects us all: plastic.
Organized as part of the national conference of the French Polymer Group (GFP), held this year in Lille, the event offered valuable insights into the many challenges surrounding this ubiquitous material.

A material at the heart of our daily lives… and at the center of major debates

Throughout the conference, invited experts provided a clear and accessible overview of the evolution of plastics—from their early development to the major environmental and societal issues they raise today.
One of the main goals was to give attendees the tools to better understand the true impact of plastics and to collectively consider possible paths toward improvement in the years ahead.

An evening structured around several key themes

  • Understanding the history of plastics

  • Exploring their main applications

  • Addressing waste management challenges

  • Learning about environmental and health impacts

  • Examining sustainable alternatives

The conference concluded with an open discussion between speakers and the audience to explore whether plastics should be seen primarily as a source of pollution or a potential solution.

A moment for dialogue and collective reflection

This event enabled participants to ask questions, exchange directly with researchers and specialists, and contribute to a shared reflection on the future of plastics.
